Hospitality Lighting
Make Bespoke Studio produces bespoke chandeliers, pendants and wall lights for hotels, restaurants, bars and members’ clubs, made to the drawings of your architect, interior designer or lighting designer.
Hospitality lighting works harder than the residential kind. It is lit for most of the day, cleaned on a schedule, re-lamped by a maintenance team and seen at close range by guests. Access, fixing and replaceable parts are settled on the drawings, before anything is cut.
The range runs from crystal and hand-blown Murano glass chandeliers to heritage lanterns and contemporary architectural pendants. Metal lighting is made by a partner factory in the West Midlands, in continuous production since 1888 and Made in Britain certified. Hand-blown glass comes from a partner workshop on Murano.
Built to be serviced
A fitting that cannot be cleaned, re-lamped or repaired in place becomes a problem in the first week of trading. For each piece we work out how maintenance reaches it, which parts come out and go back, and what happens on the day one lamp fails. Replaceable LED modules and standard drivers, rather than sealed units, can be the difference between a fitting that lasts ten years and one that lasts three.
A large chandelier is a structural object. We prepare rigging drawings, agree load requirements and wiring routes with the M&E contractor, and specify winch access or lowering gear where maintenance needs it.
Coordinated with your lighting designer
We work from the lighting designer’s schedule, not around it. Lamp type, colour temperature and dimming are agreed with the design team before sign-off, and the specified lamp is tested in the actual fitting. Warm sources, around 2200K to 2700K, suit the places where guests linger, and warm-dim LED lets a room change character between lunch and midnight. Luminaires are specified to EN 60598-1, or to the standard required where the project is.
Where it sits in a hotel or restaurant
In a lobby or at reception, a single statement fixture gives a guest something to look up at: a chandelier above the desk, or hung down a stairwell. In a restaurant or bar, a run of pendants can draw a long counter into one line. Because the same studio produces the bar joinery and the furniture around it, a pendant can be detailed to the bar it hangs over.
Private dining rooms and members’ clubs ask for something quieter: pendants and wall lights that give the low, warm light a room is used in. For the wider thinking, see our guide to hotel lighting design.
From drawing to installation
- Brief and concept. We work from your drawings, or develop a piece with you, advising on scale, materials, finishes and fixing.
- Drawings, samples and mock-up. Scale drawings, metal and glass samples and, for statement pieces, a mock-up are prepared for sign-off, typically over two to four weeks.
- Production. Bespoke lighting typically takes 10 to 14 weeks from approved drawings, and Murano glass lighting 14 to 18 weeks, because hand-blown glass depends on the furnace schedule on Murano. The clock starts at written approval of drawings and samples.
- Delivery and installation. Fittings are programmed to arrive when ceilings and electrics are ready. They are delivered assembled where access permits, or packed for on-site assembly by our installation team.
Lighting is often produced alongside the furniture and joinery of a scheme, so finishes match and one programme covers both. See hospitality for the wider supply.

Common questions
Do you make bespoke lighting for hotels and restaurants?
Yes. We produce chandeliers, pendants and wall lights for hotels, restaurants, bars and members’ clubs, made to the drawings of your design team. Metal lighting comes from a partner factory in the West Midlands and hand-blown glass from a partner workshop on Murano, with the studio coordinating drawings, samples and programme.
Can you work with our lighting designer and M&E contractor?
Yes. Lamp type, colour temperature and dimming are agreed with your lighting designer, and load requirements and wiring routes for large fittings are coordinated with the M&E contractor. Rigging drawings are prepared for any fitting that needs structural fixing.
How long does bespoke hotel lighting take?
Allow two to four weeks for drawings, samples and any mock-up, then typically 10 to 14 weeks of production from written approval, or 14 to 18 weeks for hand-blown Murano glass. Delivery is aligned with your fit-out programme so fittings arrive when ceilings and electrics are ready.
Can the lighting be matched to the furniture and joinery?
Yes. The same studio produces the furniture and joinery, so metal finishes, timbers and details can be matched across a scheme and run to one programme.
What standards do the fittings meet?
Luminaires are specified to EN 60598-1, the European safety standard for luminaires, or to the standard required where the project is, and wired to the standards of the country they will hang in. Requirements vary between projects and territories, so we confirm them with your design team at the drawing stage.
